Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, sometimes translated as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania or Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, is a state in northern Germany comprised of two regions, Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania (German: Vorpommern, also Hither Pomerania). Its capital is in Schwerin. Due to its lengthy name, it is often abbreviated as MV or shortened to Meck-Pomm.
