Presentation of Van Stappen

The family-led business Van Stappen group is made up of three entities: Van Stappen Bunkering Services (oil supply), Vans Bunkers (distributes Total and other brands of oil products to inland navigation), and Elveba Bunkering (tanker vessel freighting agency). It all began in 1966 when Jean Van Stappen took over the business of his former employer.

House flag of Van Stappen

The house flag of Van Stappen, as shown on photographies on the company website, is white with the company logotype, consisting of a boat shape made up of red stylized letters JVS (Jean Van Stappen), the J partly obscured by a white wave shape, and the S followed by a similar red one. Underneath the boat - made more recognizable by a red superstructure, the cabin -, above the S are a red and a blue horizontal stripe and the words (san serrifed and slanted) VANS BUNKERS in blue.
The red and blue stripe together, divided as they are by a white space, suggest the Dutch national flag but I do not know of any such connection - the colours may have been derived from the former (Belgian) Fina oil brand.

The pennant of Van Stappen is made of the company logotype plus the stripes fitted to a triangular shape; the company name is left out.
