The dexter part of the arms shows a smith's hammer crossed with a war axe over a wooden or metal billet and below a walleye fish. The whole symbolizes the abundance of natural resources: woods, forges and fishing.

The sinister part of the arms shows a maple leaf surrounded by seven fleur-de-lis, which symbolize the seven municipalities surrounding the capital, Sainte-Geneviève-de-Batiscan.

The chevron symbolizes welcome and human warmth. It also represents maritime traffic and the two banks of river Batiscan on which the municipality is established, making of it a popular simmer vacation place.
The base represents the front of a barge sailing on river Batiscan, symbolizing maritime and local traffic. The flanks of the chevron are a symbol of unity.

The wheat spikes beneath the shield symbolize work supplied by the early colonists.
The M-shaped scroll, for "Mauricie", is charged with the French motto "VENUS POUR DEMEURER" ([We] Came to Stay). "Came" is a tribute to the past, while "To Stay" is a promise for the future.
