Description of the Flag

The flag can be seen at:

From the centennial website:

The corporate symbol of Saskatchewan's centennial was created to capture the energy and excitement of our 100th anniversary. Simple, yet powerful, it radiates the warmth, the diversity and the welcoming spirit of Saskatchewan people from all walks of life.

The symbolic "arms wide open" figure represents numerous positive emotions, events and activities: everything from a huge homecoming hug, to multicultural dancers, to a heartfelt exclamation of joy and celebration. For example, in the sports world, the figure can represent an athlete cheering, scoring a winning touchdown or pushing for the finish line. For the tourism and travel sector, it can signify Saskatchewan's wide open welcome extended to all visitors. It's a business win, a warm embrace and a natural gesture of celebration all rolled into one.

The colours chosen are significant as well. Blue represents Saskatchewan's vast sky and our 100,000 lakes and rivers. The green represents Saskatchewan's parklands and northern boreal forests. The gold represents Saskatchewan's prairies. The figure moves over the Saskatchewan landscape with arms outstretched in welcome, excitement and celebration.

The centennial was Sunday September 4, 2005.
