The commune of Donat is born after the merger of former communes of Donath and Patzen-Fardün.
The new flag takes over the elements of the former flags: the torch and sword from Patzen-Fardün and the griffin from Donath, the latter having lost his sword certainly because this weapon was already on the flag of Patzen-Fardün.
