A part of the national resistance was also the National Committee for
a Free Germany. This committee used a flag, better a flagoid.
The National Committee for a Free Germany (German: Nationalkomitee
Freies Deutschland, or NKFD) was a German anti-Nazi organization that operated
in the Soviet Union during World War II.
At the wishes of the majority of the anti-communist ideologically oriented German officers to meet, as the red- white-black flag of the German Reich was the emblem of the NKFD . Added was the inscription "Freies Deutschland" (Free Germany) in black fracture letters. Initially it was thought the black-red-gold flag of the Weimar Republic as a liberal symbol. This was not at the communists and liberals liking. It also adopted the old "Bismarck"-flag for the committeee. That was also a "German flag dispute" in the war prison camps in the Soviet Union.
