The Colour of the Bayerische Bereitschaftspolizei is called an Ehrenfahne (Honour Colour) in a short historical text at the Bavarian police website. It was presented to the president of the Bayerische Bereitschaftspolizei by the Minister of the Interior on 4 December 1986. The design was made by Paul Rattelmüller, the district conservator (Bezirksheimatpfleger) of Upper Bavaria. The Colour is a single item kept at the HQ of the Bereitschaftspolizei at Bamberg, but transferred to other places, if there is a need. It is used on many ceremonial occasions, e.g. when foreign guests officially visit Bavaria, during funeral services for police officers, during swearing-in of police officers etc. (see many issues of Bayerns Polizei, the internal journal of the Bavarian police).
The Colour shows a rather complicated design: the central field (of a somewhat greyish colour) shows the greater coat-of-arms of Bavaria and two crossed twigs and two loops in white and blue; the central field is bordered by fields with the Bavarian lozenges; in each of the corners there is the Bavarian police star on a green field; all the fields are separated from each others by thin golden stripes; the whole Colour is fringed golden.
