Introduction

In 1955, the German Democratic Republic adopted pennants for many of their harbor/sea related services. All pennants were alike in that they were white with the coat of arms in the center. However, they had differing borders for each service. They were also approximately 3:5 in proportion. Source: Kannik 1959.
