Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess, below it's a plain silver(=white) field, above are two silver(=white), rampant, double queued, lions, turned away from each other in a red field.
Meaning:
According to source the image is taken from the seal of the lords of Witten. According to Ralf Hartemink it is known as arms of lord Everhard of Witten-Steinhausen since 1283. His descendants had been imperial vassals up to 1806. Originally from a seal the colours were not known and had been chosen arbitrarily, when the Prussian king confirmed the approval of the arms on 6 November 1911. Probably the colours of the Prussian province of Westphalia had been chosen.
