Wetterau County Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess by a blue wavy bar. Above in a golden (= yellow) field is a demi-eagle, double headed, armed and tongued red. The silver (= white) field below is divided by two red barrulets.
Meaning:
The eagle is the Imperial eagle and indicates that the Wetterau area historically was under direct Imperial rule. The lower part of the arms shows the arms of the lords of Isenburg-Büdingen, who acquired most of the area in the former district of Büdingen. The wavy bar is symbolizing the Wetter creek.
