Shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules a key Argent in pale, at sinister Argent a demi-eagle couped per pale Sable beaked and tongued Gules.
The key is the symbol of St. Peter and represents the old church in Niedergründau, which is devoted to St. Peter. The imperial eagle is a symbol for the imperial court which had been held here in medieval times. Also, there were several royal estates or possessions in the municipality. The symbols of Gründau had been symbols of Niedergründau before, where they had been approved 17 August 1967.
