Amt Neuhaus Flag

it is a yellow over white horizontal bicolour with the coat of arms in its centre.

Amt Neuhaus Coat of Arms

It is a quarterly divided shield. The 1st and 4th quarter are showing the coat of arms of Saxony, a barry of five shield in gold (=yellow) and black superimposed by a green crancelin. In the 4th quarter the golden bar on top is missing. The 2nd quarter shows the coat of arms of Lower Saxony, a white prancing horse, facing the dexter side, in a red field. The 3rd quarter shows a white symetric building with two towers. It is Neuhaus mansion.
Source: I spotted this flag on 17 June 2007 in front of the firebrigade station in Neuhaus.

Historical notes:
Amt Neuhaus belonged to the Kingdom of Hannover and later to the Prussian province. At the end of WW II the east bank of river Elbe was occupied by the red army (Sovietunion) and also the Amt Neuhaus. Amt Neuhaus was incorporated into the Mecklenburg province of German Democratic Republic. A few years later the farmers of Amt Neuhaus made a rallye in order to go back to Lower Saxony, showing red flags with the white horse. They were however imprisoned by the authorities. After the German reunion in 1990 this movement had a revival, but Neuhaus remained part of the new German state of Mecklenburg-Westpomerania.
Later in 1993(?) after negotiations between both states Amt Neuhaus became part of Lower Saxony again.

Looking at the coat of arms another time, it seemed to me, that it is a shield of the dukes of Saxony but with a superimposition of the red fields in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.
