Burgsolms Coat of Arms

Shield Gules masoned sable, a bend Or charged with a lion passant Azure, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The arms display the lion of Solms and a brick wall. Around 1100 the Counts of Solms built a water castle surrounded by Solms creek (German: Solmsbach). After the extinction of the dynasty in the 15th century the castle became a ruin, the last relics however disappeared in 1950. The castle as a brick wall, which is rather unique in German heraldry, where most often a building is displayed. The brick wall is also representing the fortification of the village itself.
The coat of arms was approved in 1960 by Minister of Interior of Hesse.
