Meaning:
The area with the settlement Lubes was a donation of the Duke of Silesia to Leubus Monastery and the settlement was called a city in 1232. When the city became a possession of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg in 1253, it had already been renamed and was called Müncheberg. It became a possession of the Margraves of Brandenburg before 1300.
The 3rd quarter displays the old arms of the city. The ensemble is canting, displaying a monk (German: Mönch) on a mount (German: Berg).
