Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is silver (=white). In the base is a green hill. On the hill are three red towers masoned black. The central tower is topped by a cone shaped roof, which is topped by a golden (= yellow) cross. The other towers are embattled and topped by the head of a red eagle each. The heads are armed and tongued golden (= yellow) and facing one another.
Meaning:
According to source Wesenberg was mentioned first in 1257. Wesenberg gained city rights from count Nikolaus I of Werle about 1250. The city belonged to Brandenburg from 1276 - 1300 and finally became a possession of Mecklenburg in 1317. During the following centuries the city declined by plagues, famines, wars, fires etc. The arms are based upon a seal proven since 1354. The green hill is canting (Wese = Wiese = (Engl.) meadow) on a mountain). The towers are symbolizing the city rights and the eagles are allduding to the rule of the Margraves of Brandenburg in the 13th century.
