Neumarkt-Sankt Veit Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Argent a demi-panther issuant Azure spitting a red flame, beneath Gules.
Meaning:
Seals from 1505 already display this pattern in a targe. There exists a coloured painting from the same year, thus it can be concluded that the arms were granted in 1505. It is the symbol belonging to the Counts of Kraiburg-Ortenburg, a branch line of the Palatine Counts of Spanheim, rulers of the area until 1248. As the meaning had been forgotten, the panther was also depicted as a griffin or since 1819 as a Bavarian lion. The field below had been lozengy in the 16th century.

The flag was approved on 31 March 1994, probably by district government of Oberbayern.
