Tangstedt Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
It is a red shield bearing a silver (= white) nettle leaf. The nettle leaf is superimposed by an inescutcheon. The inescutcheon displays a in a black shield a silver (= white) fess superimposed by three red, heraldic roses barbed and seeded golden (= yellow).
Meaning:
The nettle leaf is alluding to the dukes of Schauenburg-Holstein, the former rulers. The inescutcheon shows the arms of the imperial counts (Reichsgrafen) of Holmer, who owned Tangstedt Manor in the 18th and 19th century. In 1806 Friedrich Levin von Holmer, minister of Oldenburg, died in Tangstedt Manor. In 1970 the municipalities of Tangstedt, Wilstedt und Wulksfelde merged. The number of roses only incidentally fits the number of former municipalities.
Tangstedt, belonging to Stormarn County, is administrated by Itzstedt Subcounty in Segeberg County.
