Fridingen Municipal Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Argent, beneath lozengy of Gules and Argent.
Meaning:
Fridingen was founded by the Counts of Hohenberg, who granted city rights in 1370. They sold the city in 1381 to the Dukes of Austria<7i>. Prints of city seals are known since the early 16th century. They all displayed the family arms of the counts, a shield parted per fess of white and red. 19th century seals were parted enhanced and the chief was red since then. The lozenges in the current pattern are a misinterpretation of the damascene in the Hohenberg shield but were kept as a distinguishing mark.
