Munderkingen Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a lion rampant Gules, crowned and armed Or, in dexter chief a 6-point star Gules.
Meaning:
The city was founded by the Lords of Emerkingen before 1260 and was sold to the Dukes of Austria before 1297. Though the city was pawned sevral times, the dukes remained local rulers until 1805. The sinister facing crowned lion in the first local seal (prints since 1289) is considered to be the Habsburgian lion. Since 1340 the lion is dexter facing with a star behind his tail. Since the 17th century the position of the star was changed and the lion was placed upon a triplemount. The first coloured arms are on a disc from 1614 in the city hall.

The arms were adopted in 1956. The flag colours are mentioned at least since 1962.
