Vöhrenbach Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a bend wavy Or, charged with a trout Gules.
Meaning:
Vöhrenbach was established by the Counts of Urach-Freiberg and Urach-Fürstenberg as a settlement, similar to a city around 1244. In 1387 Heinrich of Fürstenberg confirmed its city rights. The three oldest seals from the 14th century until the end of the 18th century displayed a donkey statant with unknown meaning. A legend says, that the local people were enforced to adopt that pattern, in order to remind on the murder of a nobleman, committed by a farmer. In 1802 Prince Karl Joachim of Fürstenberg permitted to replace the arms by the current pattern, which was considered to be canting, displaying a trout in a creek, as the name of the district and municipality is derived from German "Forellenbach". A former version displayed the trout facing downwards. The current version is in use since 1962.

The arms were granted in 1802 (see above). A bicolour is in use at least since 1971.
