The Flag

The flag of Chantilín is composed of a celestial blue rectangle in proportions 1:2, that is, its length shall always be twice its width, regardless the flag's size, with a white rectangle placed along the hoist and charged with a red five-pointed star in perfect placement, that is, with a point always pointing upwards. The flag shall be hoisted to a staff of dark coffee color and in proportions 2.5:1 in relation to the flag's width.

Celestial blue represents the sky offering a protecting coat and the ideals and aspiration to prosperity of the inhabitants. White is a symbol of purity and peace; combined with celestial blue, it highlights the Marian character of the parish and its infinite devotion to its patron saint, the Blessed Virgin of El Quinche [the statue of the Virgin sculpted in the 16th century by Diego de Robles is venerated in a sanctuary located in Quito, consecrated in 1928 and proclaimed Ecuador's National Sanctuary in 1985 by the Holy See].

The rectangle and the equilateral triangle are both considered as perfect in their structure, highlighting the aspiration of the community
towards integral development. The five-pointed star represents the five boroughs composing the parish (Chantilín Grande, Central Narváez, Unión Narváez, San Francisco, Centro). Red is a symbol of the people's valiance and tenacity, which help them to seek for a better future.

The colors are prescribed as follows (CMYK):
Celeste blue 46 8 0 0
Red 0 100 100 0
Black 42 70 100 51
