Presentation of Bóveda del Río Almar

The municipality of Bóveda del Río Almar (260 inhabitants in 2009; 2,301 ha) is located 45 km west of Salamanca.

Bóveda del Río Almar, according to Pascual Riesco, was founded in 1140, as "Bovatum en rivulum de Almar", part of the resettlement plan ordered by King Alfonso VII in the lands of Alba. In 1250, the name of the village, which belonged to the Bishopric of Ávila, was written Bouada. Later on, the village belonged either to Ávila or Peñaranda de Bracamonte.
