The municipality of Saint-Victoret (6,596 inhabitants in 2011, 473 ha; municipal website) is located 25 km northwest of Marseilles, bordering in the east Marignane and the Marseille-Provence international airport.
Saint-Victoret was established in 965 by monks from the powerful St. Victor abbey in Marseilles, therefore its name, which is the diminutive form of Saint-Victor (Little Saint-Victor). The first settlement was indeed a rural priory erected in a marshy area. With time, the community increased and a village developed nearby, established as a municipality in 1666.

The flag of Saint-Victoret (photo) is white with the municipal coat of arms in the middle.
The arms of Saint-Victoret are "Gules an escarbuncle or". The shield is surmounted by a mural crown or masoned sable ports gules. Beneath the shield, a scroll gules is inscribed with the Latin words "SANCTI VICTORIS" in letters or.
The arms are registered in the Armorial Général (text: I, 921; image: II, 1603; registration fee: 20 pounds). The writing on the scroll is a short form of "Ecclesia Sancti Victori de Cella".
The arms (with a bigger scroll allowing the full writing) are shown above the entrance of the St. Pierre s Liens parish church (photo), erected in the 19th century and renovated in 2006.
