The Aso National Youth House is a social education facility, which aims to educate youth through a variety of group activities, experiences and study. It was founded in 1963 under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as the second facility of its kind. The first being the Chuo (central) National Youth House in Gotenba City in Shizuoka Prefecture. The Aso National Youth House celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 1994. National Youth Houses have been established in 13 places all over Japan.
The flag is shown at aso-nyc.org
1 The shape of the mark resembles the ア symbol in katakana, which is
the square phonetic Japanese syllabary. ア is the first sound of "Aso".
2 At the bottom and in the center of the mark is an [representation] for "seinen", which means "youth" in Japanese. It also represents the flame of idealism and the thick smoke ring of Mt. Aso.
3 The outline of the mark symbolizes the outer rim of the volcanic crater of Mt. Aso, as well as harmony among people.
4 The color of the flag is purplish-blue which signifies "Truth".
