's-Gravendeel Coat of Arms

's-Gravendeel Coat of ArmsInternational Civic Arms : http://www.ngw.nl/heraldrywiki/index.php?title='s_Gravendeel

's-Gravendeel was founded in 1593. Until 1592 the sea had free access to the muddy flats of Bonaventura, the polder of the site of 's-Gravendeel. The territory of Bonaventura was divided, one part belonged to the Count of Holland, hence the name "des Graven Deel" - the part of the Count. The three Orange trees in the Coat of Arms od 's-Gravendeel still remind of the connection with the Counts of Holland. (The Counts of Orange were the last Counts of Holland).
