Ammerstol former municipality

Ammerstol is a former municipality in Zuid-Holland province, since 1985 part of Bergambacht.
Flag: adopted 18 Mar 1982; design: Hoge Raad van Adel
Description: Three wavy stripes with heights proportioned 3:2:3, blue - white - blue with in top hoist a white lion and a yellow salmon.

The lion and salmon are the exact image of the municipal arms. There is no motivation for the wavy bar, but it probably represents the Lek river, flowing along Ammerstol.

The salmon reminds of salmon-fishing in olden days here. The back-to-back placement is contrary to the rule of courtoisie.
Nickname: "Piepmuizen" - squeakmice, who were continuously pestered by the "katten" of Bergambacht.
