Coat of Arms (from the communal
website): or, an eagle noire haloed, holding a twig vert.
Info: "The black eagle of Saint John the Evangelist, on a gold background,
holding a green olive branch in its talons. The oldest emblem, a thirteenth
century seal, joins in its motifs collectively, the half eagle of the Silesian
Piast Duke of Wrocław, who at that time was the owner, and lilies which
indicate the diocese of Wrocław and in particular Bishop Tomasz I, founder
of Paczków. Later seals with the motif of Saint John the Evangelist refer
to the patron of the town parish church - Saint John the Evangelist and
therefore make use of his attributes, as is confirmed by the words on one
of the town seals (from the mid fourteenth century): "IN PRINCIPIO ERAT
VERB (um)" (In the beginning was the word)."
The site announces Paczków as the Polish Carcassone (a city just beyond
Vaals).
