About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field gyronny of eight of yellow and blue.

Shield Gules, a castle Or with port and windows Azure, charged in its main tower with the arms of King Sancho I, revised, (a cross of five eschutcheons Azure, the lateral ones pointing inwards and the central downwards, each charged with a saltire of five plates), under a row of five 5-pointed mullets Or. Mural crown Argent, with five visible towers (city rank); collar of the Tower and Sword Order; white scroll at the bottom reading in black uppercase letters "CIDADE DE BRAGANÇA" .
