Lamalonga Commune is one of the 30 communes of Macedo de Cavaleiros Municipality; it had 402 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 17.0 km². "Lama longa" means "long mud" in everyday Portuguese; I am not sure if the juxtaposition into a single word has any significance, nor of any additional meanings that it might have in relation with local history.
