It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.

Shield Or, an oak twig Vert fruited Gules at dexter and three wheat ears Vert tied Gules at sinister, in central chief a fleur-de-lis Azure, in base a bar wavy Azure charged with a barrulet wavy Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ABELA".
Meaning:
The fleur-de-lis is an attribute of Our Lady of Abela, the local patron saint.
