Overview

Majláthfalva (in Romanian Mailat) is a village part of Vinga / Vinga community in Arad county. Vinga community is inhabited by Romanian-Hungarians. Majláthfalva is a Hungarian village under the direction of Vinga community and the people of the village have their own symbol. Majláthfalva is a really new village. It was founded 1819 with settlers from Szeged, Bezdán and Szaján. Majláthfalva was an Hungarian inhabited village of the German inhabited Vinga district of the mixed Temes county of the Kingdom of Hungary. After 1919/1920 (Romanian occupation / Trianon Treaty) the village became a part of Timis county (1920-1951), Banat Region (1951-1956), Timisoara Region (1956-1965), Banat Region (1965-1968) and Arad county (1968-). The settlements in 1992 has got 1133 inhabitants.
