The flag and coat of arms of Mokronog - Trebelno are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Mokronog - Trebelno (text), adopted by the Municipal Council on 14 April 2010, and published on 23 April 2010 in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 33/2010.

The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.

The flag is vertically divided red-white with the full municipal coat of arms set in the centre of the flag, so that its gules (red) part is in the white stripe and its argent (white) part is in the red stripe. Although only the vertical flag is shown in the documents, the horizontal flag seems to be described as divided white-red, and, seemingly, with the coat of arms set sideways. Moreover, the description prescribes 1:2.5 proportions, while the drawing shows a much shorter flag.
The flag design, with the full coat of arms instead of one of its elements, does not comply with the principles set up by Valt for Slovenian local flags, but the municipal officials insisted on having the full coat of arms in the flag.

The coat of arms of Mokronog is "Per pale argent a key sable fesswise conjoined with a vine leaf to the chief and a bunch of grapes azure to the base and gules a dexter foot imprint proper."

Mokronog has ancient heraldical symbols, appearing on seals since the 14th century, usually shown as "Azure a foot proper". This is canting for the town name, Mokronog meaning more or less "Wet feet". The name is considered to be remnant of pre-Christian Slavic believes honouring the rain-making deity; it is probable that a kind of "divine foot imprint" was naturaly made on a rock, just as it is case on several other places on earth with similar stories, although the imprint is no longer visible today. The Christian church dedicated to St. Peter - who took over the pre-Christian symbolic of rain-making deity - in Mokronog is thought to have been raised on the site of the previous cult.

The key and vine elements are probably standing for Trebelno.
