The Sons of Confederate Veterans is the largest organization in the United States composed of male descendants of men who fought for the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War (1862-65). Its sister organization is the United Daughters of the Confederacy, consisting of female descendants of Confederate veterans. As might be expected, both organizations draw the greatest number of their members from the Southern United States, although both are national and even international in scope (there used to be branches of both bodies in the UK, although I do not know if they are still in existence.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans is organized into state divisions, and at the end of a very long web site entitled 'The Other Side of the Coin,' a history of the war from the Southern point of view, there is an image of the Georgia Division of the SCV: www.scv674.org/SH-15.htm

Caption: "Sons of Confederate Veterans: Maryland Division". This flag is modeled on the 1864 and last "third" version of the "Confederate States of America" flag (having a narrow vertical red stripe added along the right "fly" side of the white "field"). It was displayed at a memorial ceremony at the U.S. federal "Arlington National Cemetery" (in Virginia state) in 2014.

A blue-field flag with a white-letter slogan that reads: "Sons of Confederate Veterans For Southern Independence!" of the "The Sons of Confederate Veterans of the Civil War, John Bell Hood Camp No. 50", in [Jan. 1?] 2013 as part of a reenactment of the Civil War Battle of Galveston [Jan. 1, 1863], Texas. [during the U.S.A.-C.S.A. Civil War between 1861-1865]. note: "John Bell Hood" was a Confederate general during the USA-CSA Civil War. I surmise that the single white star in this flag refers to the single white star in the then-and-now Texas state flag. Because this is a "Sons of Confederate Veterans" flag this is flag is obviously a post-Civil-War flag c. 2013. (AP Photo/The Galveston County Daily News, Kevin M. Cox) / Associated Press.
