Note on terminology

The word standards (stegovi) used here is obviously different from standarti, used for the royal standards, but I have not found a better translation, since steg comes from the root "standing" just as standard does.

Željko Heimer, 20 November 2003

A similar thing happens in German. Rank flags of heads of state and higher officials are usually termed Standarten (standards, as almost anywhere). However there is a further term with the stand- root which identifies swallowtailed- and pennant-shaped flags: Stander.

Commodore's standard

First version (1922)

The commodore's standard (steg komodora) is prescribed in article 7 of the 1922 law. The flag is triangular, forked with the royal crown in full colours in canton. The overall ratio of the flag is 1:2.

The height of the pennant at fly is one third of its height at hoist and the fork reaches the half of the length. The crown is a quarter of the pennant height long and is set in the middle of the canton square half the hoist high.

Second version (1937)

The commodore's standard (komandna zastava admirala) prescribed in the 1937 law is a swallow-tailed (indentation depth: 4/10 of the flag width) white square flag with a blue border (width: 1/10 of the flag width) all around.

.Here again, Flaggenbuch [neu39] still shows the former version of the flag.
